Hey everybody, I have a fun way for you to waste a couple hours. I recently came upon a free browser game called:
The Haunted Ruins
In this game you are on a quest to save a town from the monsters that have recently appeared in - can you guess? - some old abandoned ruins. In order to do so, you must enter the ruins with your trusty sword and shield and fight the good fight, with the monsters becoming tougher as you traverse to deeper levels.
Character creation is easy (everyone starts at level 1 with a level 1 sword and shield), but you have some opportunities for customization as you continue battling through the dungeon. Found some Iron Ore? Head to the local blacksmith for an upgrade to either your sword or shield. And in case you were worried, the game does feature a magical aspect as well.
Scattered in various levels are wizards for you to find who will agree to teach you a single spell. These range from your basic fire attack and healing spell, to the ability to teleport to a random dungeon level (in case you need to level up a bit before continuing your journey). This is of course a very simplistic RPG, but I think that can be refreshing at times, and I certainly had a good time with it. Happy gaming!

ReplyDeleteI've made it to level 18 of the dungeon and only found iron ore once, despite exploring everywhere. Is that normal?
ReplyDeleteAs far as I can tell, yes. I only managed to find two pieces in my playthrough, so I gave one to sword and one to shield. I don't know if that number varies at all.
